Beginner's Mind
An Abandoned Playground

My goal with being creative is to be surprised. I like being loose with whatever it is I’m doing. I like to try and keep the guardrails wide, and try to minimize any expectations I have of what the final output will be.
The art I tend to enjoy the most is art from people who had a beginner’s mind while they were creating. They didn’t know the rules or shoulds or the “right way” to do it and because of that, they did something interesting. I don’t think that just because you have a beginner’s mind it means that whatever you do will be interesting, but I do think it’s a great place to start. The trick is getting back there.

The photos this week are all multiple exposures of an abandoned playground I randomly drove by in a rural area north of town recently. I didn’t realize it until I started putting this together, but I suppose it’s a good metaphor for how our own internal playgrounds become abandoned over time. Whoa…. *bong hit*
Thanks for looking.
