Diptych Trip
An aimless road trip to parts unknown...at least to me.

Last weekend I needed to get away, and my amazing wife encouraged me to take a little time for myself. So I left my house after work and headed southwest with no maps or GPS. My only rule was to take roads I didn't already know, avoiding highways as much as possible. The idea was to stop if I saw something interesting and photograph whatever caught my eye. I didn't have to be anywhere. I didn't have a destination in mind.

I took a lot of pictures of trees in the middle of fields, old buildings, and classic rural scenes. It was fun.

It was fun to pick roads based entirely on how interesting they looked. It was fun to follow curiosity and see what might be around a corner. It was fun to be anonymous in new places.

I'd been wanting to do this for quite a while. I planned on it being two nights, but by the end of the second day, several things conspired to send me home. A big part was missing my family and realizing how much more fun it is to share experiences like this.

When I took a look at these photos to pick which ones to post here, a few just jumped out at me as needing to be together… so here we are. Thanks for looking!
