Ice Leaves, Car Wash, Shadows

It's a mix this week.

Ice Leaves, Car Wash, Shadows
Leave double exposure

The theme this week is "spontaneity." There are three mini sets of photos below, and all of the images in each set were shot within seconds of each other (ok, maybe minutes). I'm really trying to lean into the attitude of "don't think, shoot" because, a) it is so much fun, and b) sometimes I surprise myself.

  1. Ice Leaves - These are a couple weeks old. I was on a walk with my dog on some nearby trails and as the last bits of snow and ice were melting, the leaves were sinking into the surface. Each of these is an in-camera double exposure of the leaf, and then the trees nearby. If I remember correctly, I kept the focus locked to the distance I used for the leaves when I shot the trees. That combined with the texture of the snow and ice seemed interesting, so I went with it.

  1. Car Wash - This one makes me laugh. As I was sitting in the car wash, it dawned on me that there is this little constantly changing scene in front of me… like visiting a certain landscape in different seasons… the same scene was changing over and over. I love what water does on a windshield and so, I grabbed my little camera, held it on the steering wheel as a brace, and shot a handful of photos. They're not actually cropped like this, but I thought the grid was a nice way to see them all at once in this format.
  1. Shadows - My son and I were out for a walk with our dog this week, and the light was so crisp. There is an old library just down the street and I loved how the shadow was hitting the entrance. Then I noticed the shadow of the railing! The rest of the shots were all taken within the same block. Photography is fun. Thanks for looking."

Railing Mirrored - I love mirroring shots like this. I have a few series where everything is mirrored in one way or another.
I love these shadows on the sewer drain.
